Distributed Transactional System Using Versions of Entity Instances.

Tayeb Ould Braham: Distributed Transactional System Using Versions of Entity Instances CSIT 1999 : E/E

Abstract

In this paper we will present a transactional system using versions of entity instances. This system enables us to answer different needs which exist in transational systems, we will cite three of them. The first one consists of achieving a consistent system without using high cost techniques like cancelling operations or compensation operations. The second one consists of disposing a transactional system which can manage long transactions, necessary for new applications. The third one consists of being able to use this transactional system on object and relational models in order to take into account heterogeneity of existing systems. In this context of new transactional system, we are going to focus our interest in the management of concurrent accesses which is fundamental in system consistency. We will approach the recovery management because we have to bring a solution in the case of site unavailability. The system that we propose enables us to use a consistent distributed database system without using locking nor stamping.
